Challenging Arthritis is a FREE programme of short, practical and friendly sessions which help people of all ages, with all forms of arthritis, get more out of their lives.
A Challenging Arthritis course runs over a six-week period with one two-and-a-half hour session each week. It is delivered by two course leaders - usually training volunteers who have arthritis.
A course will have a maximum of 18 participants all of whom have arthritis or fibromyalgia.
During the course, participants learn a wide range of techniques to help them and their condition.
These include:
- what is arthritis and fibromyalgia?
- managing pain
- symptom management
- exercise
- healthy eating
- working better with health professionals
- action planning
- problem solving
- depression
- coping with emotions
- evaluating treatments
A course will be run later in the year which has been funded with the help of a donation from "The Community Network".
Challenging Arthritis is enjoyable, friendly and fun and gives you the skills to put you back in charge of your life.
